Oxford Handbook of Infectious Disease and Microbiology (ISBN: 9780198569251) 
This is a part of Oxford Handbook series. Every topic is described in one left and one right page like other books of these series. Although concise, this book discuss rather a broad range of topics including antibiotics, antifungals and infectionn control. The specific  infectious disease section is clinically oriented and incorporate the role of medical microbiology.

ESCMID Manual of Microbiology (ISBN: 9782878050264)
This book is originated from the French manual of microbiology. It provides a good overview of microbiology practice. The book is divided into 52 chapters with four big lines: general clinical microbiology, diagnosis, specific microorganisms and infection control.

+: good for quick overview with a little bit of background
-: not detailed, some chapters are not written well (wordy without useful information), lack of clinical approach, no chapter regarding antibiotics.



Infections in the Adult Intensive Care Unit by Humphreys et.al. (ISBN: 9780199549634)
This book discuss the common infection encountered in the IC. It is written by a medical microbiologist together with infectious disease specialists. I like the narrative sytle of some authors of this book so you can imagine the situation and context. Every chapter is started with a small clinical case. In this book, infection control aspects are widely discussed.

+: concise, good for overview
-: various writing styles, some authors write the 'dry' evidence only, expensive (>100 euro, I am so happy to get it for free from the author himself, thanks Prof. Humphyres!)



Medical Microbiology by Ford et.al. (ISBN: 9781447143178 
This book is part of Fundamental of biomedical sciences series. It is aimed for medical microbiologist in training and laboratory technician. Basic microbiology techniques (and infection control) are briefly discussed.

+: concise, back to basic
-: some explanation can be more concise by using graphs or figures.

I am sorry to put this orthopedic book between infectious diseases book. The reason I do it because this book has a chapter on surgical site infection that is written by.... US :).
