Kleihauer test

- Test to investigate the presence of fetal red blood cells in the mother blood.
- Fetal blood cell is resistant to acid.
- Blood smear is exposed to acid that destroy maternal red blood cells, and counter stain is applied. Maternal red blood cells will appear as ghost and fetal red blood cells can be visualized.
